The Tudors casts’ VERY colourful private lives, from booze battles to kidnap attempts

THEY portray some of the most colourful characters in history, but it seems the cast of the Tudors lives are just interesting as their on-screen counterparts.

From Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ public booze battle to the attempted kidnap of Joss Stone, we reveal the surprising private lives of the drama’s stars.

Johnathan Rhys Meyers

Yesterday it was reported that Johnathan Rhys Meyers who plays Henry VIII had been arrested for drink driving.

The star failed a field sobriety test when police arrived on the scene Sunday evening following reports of a minor car accident, TMZ has reported.

The Bend It Like Beckham star's battle with alcoholism has been well documented over the years.

It is believed the Matchpoint actor has had six stints in rehab – first checking for treatment in Malibu in 2005, the MailOnline reported.

He is then said to have returned two years later in 2007 and a third time in 2009.

In November 2011, the actor was ordered to pay a restitution of €1,000 by the French courts and giving a suspended sentence for public intoxication 24 months earlier.

In 2018, The Sun Online exclusively revealed how the 43-year-old actor screamed at his wife "f**k you, I'm going to divorce you" after she calmly asked him to stop smoking his e-cigarette on board a plane.

A fellow first class passenger, who was sat behind the actor, told The Sun Online it was not an isolated incident and the star had been "behaving erratically" and "intimidating other passengers" for the entire flight.

The Dracula star later insisted that he isn't an alcoholic after the Golden Globe-winning actor was detained by cops after becoming verbally abusive to his wife during the flight.

But he insisted it wasn't an excuse, adding: "That is not an excuse, there's never an excuse for me to drink."

Jonathan also insisted that it was a minor blip after eight months of sobriety.

He added that he had a few drinks before getting off the plane and going to a meeting and getting sober again immediately.

Joss Stone

As well as lucrative singing career Joss Stone has slipped into several acting roles including Anne of Cleves in the BBC drama.

But the Joss’ career wasn’t all bright lights and red carpets with the 33-yer-old at the centre of a terrifying kidnapping plot back in 2013.

Kevin Liverpool, 35, and Junior Bradshaw, 32, were allegedly stopped near the singer’s home with a Samurai sword plus hammers and a knife.

Macabre notes were found, said prosecutors, threatening to “decapitate” the star, 25 — dubbed “she-devil in the flesh”.

Others read “Jocelyn RIP”, “find river to dump her”, “look for jewellery box”, and anti-royal messages such as the Queen’s “system” was “taking the p***”.

Joss — who has sung at several royal charity gigs and was a guest at Wills and Kate’s wedding — was at home when the pair were arrested in June 2011.

Liverpool, 35, was sentenced to life, with a minimum life term of ten years
and eight months before it was reduced to six-and-a-half years.

Bradshaw received a sentence of 18 years which was later reduced to 10 years after three court appeals.

Henry Cavill

The Superman star, who played Charles Brandon in the Tudors, achieved true heartthrob status following his stint in Netflix series the Witcher.

However, his popularity plummeted after he showed his “true colours” in a “snobby” interview back in 2016.

Speaking to The Sun’s Dan Wootton, he said: “I’m not just doing this for the art. The money’s fantastic and that’s something I deem — again, it is frowned upon — very important.

“You’ve got to enjoy life. When I’m making money, I’m spending it on nice stuff, whether that be lavish holidays for me and my friends or just seeing something in a shop and saying, ‘Yeah, I want that for the house. I’m buying it’.

“I’ve got money to spend on nice places, rather than going to grotty pubs that stink of p***.”

The posh actor even complained about having to fly economy to my native New Zealand.

He added: “People will be calling me a c**k as they are reading this but travel’s great as long as you’re going first class.

“I mean, travelling to New Zealand in economy? It sucks. Especially if you’re over 6ft (tall).

“But first class? I’m not going to ever pretend to be coy about that. I love it.”

That same year Henry received flack when at the age of 33 he began dating a then 19-year-old Tara King.

The pair first met in London nightclub Mahiki in 2015.

When they were outed as a couple in October, some criticised Henry for dating
a girl so much younger.

Asked about their age gap in February, he said: “People say age is just a
number.

“It’s actually a real and true sign of someone’s maturity.”

But the relationship wasn’t to last with Henry giving Tara the chop just a few months later.

Joely Richardson

Joely Richardson, who played Catherine Parr in the television series, has enjoyed a successful life on-screen.

However, the actress’ private life has been plague with grief following the death of her sister and fellow actress Natasha Richardson in 2009.

While Joely quitely grieved the loss of Natasha, who was married to fellow actor Liam Neeson, quietly she admitted it had a devastating blow on her life.

In an interview with Tatler magazine the year she died, Joely said: “You worry about your children and your elders, but I never imagined such a thing as this.

"Tash was a given to me.

"The shock shatters you on a cellular level, and it takes time for the pieces to come back together, albeit in a different formation.”

The Parent Trap star passed away in 2009 following a tragic skiing accident in Montreal, leaving husband Liam and their two sons Micheal and Daniel behind.

Anabelle Wallis

She was a little known actress when she first graced our screens as Jane Seymour back in 2007 but Anabelle Wallis has since become something of a star – and a real hit with the lads.

The Peaky Blinders star has enjoyed a series of high profile romances in recent years.

She dated Gwyneth Paltrow’s ex-husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for two years until they split in 2017.

And just a year later she snapped up yet another Chris when she began dating Wonder Woman star Chris Pine.
