We’re foodies – forget Aldi, the stores that REALLY sell the best bargain grub including the cheapest fish fingers ever | The Sun

SAVVY shoppers are already familiar with bargain stores like Aldi and Lidl, and know the aisles like the back of their hand.

But if you’re looking to bag even bigger discounts and get more for your buck, now’s the time to broaden your horizons and branch out.

Two foodies, who love nothing more than bagging a bargain, have shared their supermarket secrets and the new stores helping to cut their weekly food shop.

Social media influencer @charlotte_mum_cooks told us how she picks up her essentials at an increasingly popular store called The Company Shop.

The brand, which sells price-cut stock from major retailers, boasts an array of products and could even save shoppers more than 80% on some.

These include popular products like fish fingers, which would usually cost £14 for a brand like Birds Eye, but instead sell for a fraction of the price at just £2.50.

Meanwhile, fellow foodie Chloe Hryziuk, who is a client services manager at Embryo, was quick to sing the praises of Iceland’s sister shop The Food Warehouse.

The shop describes itself as “a brand new offering from Iceland that is revolutionising the way that people shop in stores.”

They add: “It takes the same great product lines and extends them in a warehouse space, giving customers the ability to buy in bulk and take advantage of some fantastic savings.”

And there’s plenty bargain hunters can get their hands on – from luxury frozen food to TGIs and Chiquitos branded food items that are exclusive to The Food Warehouse.

WHO: Social media foodie Charlotte, who can be found on TikTok at @charlotte_mum_cooks and Instagram at @charlotte_mum_of_boys

SHE SAYS: “The Company Shop is one of my favourite discount stores because you can never be too sure what bargains await.

“They sell surplus stock from major retailers at brilliant prices. They run on a membership only basis, membership is free to those who are eligible which includes: NHS workers, like myself; police; carers; those on means tested benefits and others. Full eligibility criteria can be found on their website.

“One of my favourite parts of the store is the fresh meat section. I have picked up 1kg beef joints for £7 and a 1.2kg pork joint for just £3.50, the original store price was £7.

“They also run additional offers alongside this which can be an extra 50% off of things like fresh meat, yoghurts etc.

“It can be good to keep an eye on their socials so you know when the extra discounts are coming up.

“Other bargains I've picked up include 1kg of fish fingers for just £2.50. The same weight in Birds Eye fish fingers would set you back over £14. Whilst I love to cook homemade meals, all parents know it's good to have these staples on hand.

“Another product I've found the last few times I've been is a tub of Lotus Biscoff ice cream for just £1 – these are sold at Sainsbury's for £4.50, so it’s an absolutely amazing saving.

“They also often have amazing deals on baby food and snacks. Just last week I picked up 6 packs of Ella's Kitchen multipack snacks for £1.50.”

WHO: Thrifty food shopper and client services manager at Embryo, Chloe Hryziuk

“All cooking essentials are in one aisle, including branded items like Nandos sauces, chicken seasoning, oxo cubes, and other branded sauces, such as Heinz and Daddy, in the condiments section.
