Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, has been rumoured to be leaving Strictly Come Dancing next year following an emotional speech in which he said he would “miss” the show after being eliminated with Sara Davies last weekend. However, today, his wife clarified that although it is “not guaranteed” he will be staying on the show, at the moment he is planning on “coming back” for the 2022 series.
Answering fan questions on her Instagram Live story, Janette responded to a follower who asked if her spouse would be remaining on Strictly going forward.
She said: “I know everybody is saying that, it’s not guaranteed, he’s not finalised anything, nothing is for certain.
“He is coming back next year, if anything changes you guys will know ASAP,” she added.
On Sunday evening, viewers were left worried when Aljaz became emotional after he and dance partner Sara Davies were voted out.
In his exit speech, many believed he was hinting that he was leaving the show for good.
“You have been an absolute joy, a testament to hard work. Thank you for letting me spend so much time not just with you but the whole family,” he said.
Before adding: “I’m going to miss you so much, I’m going to miss dancing with you, I’m going to miss everything about the show.”
His doting wife, Janette, then reiterated: “I think he probably meant that he was just leaving this series, leaving this exact series of the show. He’s just loved it so, so much.
Fans were quick to query if his words meant the current series will be his last.
Taking to Instagram after the show, the pro dancer shared a picture of the pair alongside a statement.
While he didn’t address the rumours, he wrote: “We have been having so much fun from day 1.
“It was such a joy to dance with you every single day for the last 10 weeks.

“I LOVED every second of it! Thank you partner! @saradaviescc #haway.”
Many of his 508,000 followers flocked to his post to comment.

“I hope that wasn’t a goodbye speech at the end, the show wouldn’t be the same without you Aljaz.”
Sara has also taken to her Instagram Story this morning to share her feelings after their departure.
The Dragons’ Den star said she felt “a little bit lost” due to not training today.
“I should have been heading out to training with this fantastic guy,” she penned.
“I’ve been living my dream for the past 8 weeks, the people I’ve met, the friends I’ve made, the dancing I’ve learnt, I’ve just had the time of my life.”
