Matt Willis, 37, who is married to The Voice UK presenter Emma Willis, has spoken out on joining the St. John’s Ambulance team. Opening up on his role, the Busted star hopes to help the nation get back to normality amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The singer will join many volunteers as he aids in the roll out of the COVID-19 vaccine.
While he will not be administering the vaccines himself, Matt will be supporting those getting vaccines by helping them register.
In a new interview, the musician explained: “I am signing up for the St. John’s ambulance team.
“I’m not allowed to administer vaccines because I don’t have two A-Levels, but I’m going to be helping people walk in and register on the computer.”
The 37-year-old will be volunteering as part of the charity for 16 hours a month.
Talking of his reasons behind joining the team, he admitted it was not a “selfless act”, as he wanted his “life back”.
He explained to Vicky Pattison on her The Secret To podcast: “I have got f**k all else to do and I am sitting around. I’m feeling quite inadequate.
“They’re doing such an amazing thing. I said I am doing this, I got really carried away researching it.”
He added: “If you think about how many people in the UK need this vaccine and there are s**t loads of people on furlough, sitting around with their thumbs up their a**e.
“Believe me this is not a selfless act, I am doing this completely selfishly.
“I want my life back. I want to play shows, I want festivals to happen, I wanna hug my f**king mates.”
During lockdown, Matt often shared insights into his family life with wife Emma and their children Ace, nine, Trixie, four, and Isabelle,11, on Instagram.

He captioned the post: “Once again, my new favourite thing to do.
“Something so awesome about us all out in the mud and gritting our teeth through it (there are tears and tantrums along the way) but eventually we make it home feeling incredible grateful and totally filthy!
“I love this new hobby… thanks to you. @raleighbikes for introducing us to this.
