Jennifer Lopez, 53, catapulted to fame with her vocal prowess, but quickly showed that music wasn’t her only talent as she embarked on an illustrious film career in the early 2000s.

By 2010, the star had a few blockbuster roles under her belt and welcomed her twins with her third husband Marc Anthony, 54. Just two years prior she was offered a role she truly connected to, but there was one slight dilemma.

The Back-Up Plan focused on JLo’s character who meets the man of her dreams, played by Alex O’Loughlin, the day after undergoing artificial insemination with her hopes set on being a single mother.

As a rom-com, the film had a few salacious and intimate scenes, and as Jennifer herself found them “uncomfortable” she refused to let her then-husband Marc be anywhere near set while they were shooting.

She told the Indian Express at the time: “I didn’t want to torture the poor guy. He shouldn’t be watching when I’m seducing another man on a kitchen table.

“Personally I don’t like doing love scenes at all, because they make me feel uncomfortable.”

Jennifer’s experience of being a new mother also impacted some production decisions as she convinced the film bosses to hire a body double for her – but not for her provocative scenes.

Despite having two toddlers at home the actress had worked hard at getting her post-pregnancy body back into shape, telling the outlet: “I worked out a lot. I struggled to get rid of the last 20 pounds. I had to change my eating habits after having the twins. I eat a lot less now than I used to.”

So while she was more than happy to flaunt her jaw-dropping physique, the singer wanted to have a real baby bump in the film as her character goes through pregnancy.

She told Digital Spy at the time: “I just remember being pregnant and marvelling at the hugeness of my body. I said we should have a real pregnant lady double do it.”

Jennifer and Marc were married for seven years, welcoming their twins Emme and Max, 15, in 2008.

In 2011 the A-list pair separated and officially divorced three years later, but while fans never got an official explanation from either party as to what went wrong, J-Lo briefly addressed the decision in her book True Love.

The Dance Again singer wrote: “I was sitting there getting my makeup done and all of a sudden I felt like my heart was beating out of my chest and I couldn’t breathe, I started to feel anxious. I felt like I was going crazy and I uttered those words, ‘I can’t go on with Marc.’

“No one knew what I was going through. My single On the floor was number one all over the world, but my relationship was fading and I was terrified.”

Jennifer also admitted in the book that her marriage to Marc “was a Band-Aid” over the heartbreak of calling off her wedding to Ben Affleck in 2003.

Jennifer and Ben reconnected in 2021 and got married in July last year, almost a full decade after their original nuptials were set to take place.
