Pregnant Lucy Mecklenburgh tries to induce labour by eating spicy curry

Lucy Mecklenburgh is desperate for her overdue baby boy to make an appearance.

And the former TOWIE star, 28, has decided to follow the old wives' tale of chowing down on a spicy curry in order to try and get her little one ready to leave her womb.

Sharing the update with her social media followers, the first-time mum uploaded a video clip onto her Instagram stories on Thursday night, showing a table filled with a number of tasty treats from an Indian take-away.

Lucy and her fiancé Ryan Thomas went all out with their meal order as they tucked into a number of curries, rice dishes and poppadoms.

Throughout the ages it has been claimed that eating a curry can help bring labour and Lucy is hoping this will be the case after telling that she is 'fed up' of being pregnant.

The frustrated mum-to-be took to Instagram earlier this week to share her thoughts on her overdue baby, giving a word of advice for other expecting mothers.

And Lucy was very honest and open with her 1.6 million followers, admitting: "I found the 1st trimester very challenging due to sickness & fatigue, but I can honestly say 38-40weeks has been a lot tougher mentally & physically! It’s this weird limbo stage.

"I've worked through the list of eating dates, pineapple, walking, sweeps, spicy food, raspberry leaf tea, clary sage oil baths, birthing ball."

She added: "I give up and I'm just going to relax and let nature take its course as it’s so disheartening when nothing happens!! #40weekspregnant."
