Penny Lancaster, who is a regular on the Loose Women panel, has confirmed she will join a host of famous faces for the celebrity special of MasterChef 2021. Rod Stewart’s wife will join the likes of Katie Price, Megan McKenna, Love Island’s Kem Cetinay and Su Pollard to put their cooking skills to the test, as they hope to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
The 50-year-old took to her Instagram stories to share the big news this morning, but admitted there was a slight problem.
The mum-of-two revealed she had only started cooking properly while in lockdown the past year.
In view of her 110,000 followers, Penny shared an official MasterChef photo which she accompanied with a candid message.
She wrote: “Can’t believe I signed up for this, I only started cooking properly in lockdown.”
Other celebrities joining Penny for six weeks include Mel Sykes and Blue singer Duncan James.
Also on the show will be Happy Mondays star Bez, Strictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe, ex-EastEnders Rita Simon, Joe Swash, actresses Melissa Johns and Michelle Collins.
Completing the line-up is BGT comedian Nabil Abdulrashi, Paralympic champion Kadeena Cox, ex-England footballer Dion Dublin, Sewing Bee judge Patrick Grant, comedian Munya Chawawa and journalist Gavin Esler.
BBC commissioning editor, Sarah Clay said: “The 20 brave celebrities are joined by a host of chefs at the top of their game in brand new tasks which makes this year feel extra special.
“The standard of cooking is like nothing we have seen.”
The news of Penny’s debut comes after the former model recently claimed that she had to get her rockstar husband “drunk” to tuck into her food.
Penny took to the picture-sharing site and shared a snap of an evening meal she prepared for her rockstar husband.
Posing with two plates of food in her hand, she prepped for her other half’s reaction.

Back in 2016, Penny revealed on Loose Women that the Maggie May hitmaker often hires a professional chef to cook his evening meals at home.
She said: “When he’s not working, which isn’t very often, he likes to do a proper, proper dinner.
“I do breakfast and lunches and someone else does dinner because I’m not good enough for the restaurant standards.”
Meanwhile, Penny and her other half Rod appeared in high spirits as the couple enjoyed a romantic outdoor dinner.
The music legend posed in a sweet snap alongside his wife, as the couple were finally able to dine out after lockdown restrictions eased earlier this month.
The pair donned furry-lined coats as they beamed for the photo for their outdoor meal.
Penny wrote: “Very excited to be OUT OUT @thenedlondon with the family.”
