Steph McGovern shared a candid family admission on social media today. The TV star, who presents self-titled Channel 4 show Steph’s Packed Lunch, was sharing her morning exercise routine with her Instagram followers, when she opened up.
Steph got up early to get a workout in before taking her daughter to nursery and heading to work.
She could be seen performing kick backs and press-ups before 7am.
The mum-of-one, who welcomed her first child into the world in November 2019, admitted that her mornings did not always run so smoothly.
The 39-year-old admitted that earlier this week she could just about make it into work after her child threw a “cot party” until the early hours of the morning.
Steph’s first post of the day showed her exercising in the garden in quick time.
“Good morning,” she captioned the footage, adding a timestamp of 6.28am.
“Kick backs… skull crushers… snake press ups (I’m terrible at these)…” the next post read.
“Last bit before shower, then get my little one up and take her to nursery…” she added alongside another video.
The BBC Breakfast star went on to talk about a more difficult morning earlier this week.
“I should add… my routine is not always this perfect.
“The night before last I was up from 12 until 3am because my toddler decided to throw a cot party.
“I could barely get myself into work that morning, never mind exercise,” she added, in view of her 45,700 followers.
Despite sometimes causing sleepless nights, Steph said being with her daughter had got her through the pandemic at the end of 2020.

In a rare family update, Steph said of her two-year-old: “She was just totally unaware of anything, so actually her development this year, has been the thing that’s kept me grounded.
“Because it’s like, ‘Okay we don’t know what’s going to happen next with the pandemic, we don’t know when we’re going to be out of this lockdown… oh but look, she’s just been laughing!’ or ‘she’s just pooed on the utility room floor’ or whatever,” she told Huffington Post.
“I actually got loads of joy out of those types of things and they kept me sane,” the presenter continued:
“Okay, she wasn’t seeing family and our friends and she still finds it a bit mad when we do see people now because she’s like, ‘Wow, more people on this planet exist than you, and my other mum’.”
Steph has not revealed the name of her daughter or her girlfriend, who is believed to be a TV executive.
She appeared to share a very rare picture of her child on social media earlier this year when she celebrated her 39th birthday.
The image showed a toddler standing behind some balloons, which hid her face, in the garden.
“On Saturday my brilliant partner surprised me with a little b’day garden party… here are a few of the pics…” she captioned the snaps.
