Strictlys AJ Odudu breaks down as she admits she had self-doubt over routine

AJ Odudu broke down into tears after impressing the Strictly Come Dancing judges with her American smooth alongside partner Kai Widdrington on Saturday 9 October.

Speaking to Claudia Winkleman hot on the heels of the breathtaking performance, the television presenter revealed that her emotions came after a week of having "self-doubt" over her ability.

"To get those comments, what does it mean?" Claudia quizzed her about Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse's praise towards her routine.

Welling up with tears, AJ replied: "I do feel emotional because it's been a … yeah… I've had a lot of self doubt this week."

The 33 year old emotionally continued: "I just wanted to execute it well and I didn't want to let anyone down, especially Kai.

"He's such a beautiful dancer, and I just wanted to do it justice," she added.

AJ and Kai received huge praise after they danced along to Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing from the film The Bodyguard during the movie-themed week of the competition.

Fans were also quick to commend their performance on social media and spot the chemistry between AJ and Kai.

One said: "Absolutely stunning from AJ, she is such a beautiful dancer #Strictly".

Another added: "I'm sorry but I'm convinced AJ and Kai are going to end up together by the end of this series and I am HERE FOR IT #Strictly".

This follows on from reports of a possible romance between AJ and Kai.

A Strictly insider said to The Sun: "Everyone backstage is talking about the sparks flying between AJ and Kai. It's very passionate and intense whenever they're together.

"They're both single and have really hit it off, and everyone on the show is saying it's only a matter of time.

"She's always been really work-orientated and put her career first, and now her two worlds have collided," the insider continued.

AJ previously discussed her difficulties with meeting a man and said she'd been unsuccessful on dating apps.

She said: "I just don't meet anyone, aside from TV programmes I've done.

"I'm still hoping that I'll meet my man through a friend. I am a personality girl.

"I like charismatic guys who can take the mickey out of themselves but, when it comes to work, they are focused, and they know what they want in themselves and in a partner."
