Will Coachella Be Canceled Because of Coronavirus? Industry Insiders Speak Out

The 2020 Coachella Music Festival is just one month away and fans are wondering if the annual festival is going to get canceled amid Coronavirus concerns.

It was just announced that the Ultra Music Festival in Miami will no longer take place in late March due to concerns about the virus and industry experts expect more festival cancellations to happen.

“I wasn’t worried about the virus until about 10 minutes ago when I saw that Ultra was postponed,” one source told Billboard.

Van’s Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman told the outlet, “I wouldn’t doubt over the next 20 days if we see a festival a day canceled… There’s no one managing it at the federal level, which means this is going to be decided by local officials who wield a ton of power.”

Coachella happens across two weekends in April and the country music festival Stagecoach happens at the same venue one week later.

“They still have a little more time before pulling the cancellation trigger, but unless the situation improves soon, the momentum might be too much for Goldenvoice to stop,” another source said. “If this is going to work out, things need to start going right very soon.”

Amid all of the Coronavirus fears, the U.S. Surgeon General has made a plea for the public to stop buying this one item.
