Couple engaged weeks after meeting for first time in lockdown since Tinder match

A smitten couple who met on Tinder during lockdown are now engaged and have bought a house together.

Emily Morgan, 27, and Jamie Mullineux, 29, began their romance in July 2020 when they matched on the dating app.

It didn't take long for them to make things official either, in fact, it happened a few days after first speaking online.

Then things got even more serious when Jamie popped the question eight weeks into the relationship.

The next day, the loved-up pair had an offer accepted on a house.

Now the pair are living in a three-bed house in Darlington, County Durham, and plan to wed in January 2023.

Jamie told Manchester Evening News: "I was catching feelings quickly so two weeks prior to going away to Edinburgh I knew I wanted to propose."

Emily added: "It's been an absolute whirlwind. From the moment we started talking we had such a great connection.

"I knew as soon as I met him that he was 'the one'. We're living proof that dating apps can really work."

She believes it was "love at first sight" but they could easily have never met at all, as they only crossed paths when Jamie happened to be in town visiting a pal.

  • 'My bridezilla sister got engaged on my 21st birthday – and her hen do's on my 22nd'

Speaking about the proposal, Jamie revealed: "I had to ask her twice because she was busy reading a plaque on a bench and didn't hear me!

"Emily is mad as a hatter on a high all the time – I need that positive in my life."

The bride-to-be decided to try out the dating app in July 2020 and after a couple of swipes, she finally matched with Jamie.

They hit it off instantly and arranged a date a few days later in August 2020, then things became official soon after.

Emily said: "Jamie lives in Yorkshire so usually we would never match. It just so happens he was in the radius on my Tinder – it was pure luck.

"We met for a meal in Blackpool we just knew it was meant to be. He ended up meeting my mum the next day – it was crazy but felt right!"

Within a matter of weeks, nurse Emily relocated 100 miles away to North Yorkshire to be closer to Jamie and the pair put an offer in on a house.

Then they went away for Jamie's birthday to visit Edinburgh in October 2020 which is when he got down on one knee.
