May 3 is the Early May Bank Holiday in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This bank holiday is the fourth of eight observed annually in the UK. Many Britons are likely planning to enjoy meeting loved ones in the pub or getting together for a barbecue. But those anticipating deliveries or hoping to send items may be concerned whether these companies will remain open on May 3.

A bank holiday is a national holiday in the UK and the Crown dependencies.

The first Monday of each May is known as the Early May Bank Holiday.

Traditional May Day celebrations include rites and celebrations involving a maypole, around which dancers often circle with ribbons.

The spring bank holiday was officially created in May 1978 and potentially faced the chop in 2011.

Does Hermes deliver on bank holidays?

Hermes deliveries are not made on Sundays or bank holidays.

There are, however, a number of services which can collect and deliver parcels on weekends and bank holidays.

Collections and deliveries are made by Hermes from 8am to 8pm on Monday through to Saturday.

Does DPD deliver on bank holidays?

No, DPD does not deliver on bank holidays.

Timings for DPD deliveries depend on the area.

However, typically all deliveries will be made by DPD between 7.30am to 7.30pm from Monday to Saturday.

Does Yodel deliver on bank holidays?

Yodel does not make deliveries on bank holidays.

Normally, Yodel’s delivery times are from 7am to 9pm on Monday to Friday.

However, the delivery company also makes deliveries from 7am to 9pm on Saturdays across mainland UK.

In exceptional circumstances, such as extremely busy periods and at exceptional times, Yodel will make Sunday deliveries.

Are any delivery services open on bank holidays?

The Royal Mail is not usually open on bank and public holidays, including the Early May Bank Holiday.

Parcelforce and DHL will also not collect or make deliveries on May 3.

Some delivery services do offer deliveries on bank holidays including City Sprint.
