Who are Carole and Michael Middleton?
Carole, 66, was born in Perivale, London, to parents Ronald Goldsmith and Dorothy Goldsmith neé Harrison. She has a younger brother, Gary Goldsmith, who is a millionaire businessman.
Michael, 72, was born in Leeds to a wealthy family. His father, Captain Peter, served as a RAF fighter pilot during the Second World War, while his mother was a VAD nurse and code-breaker.
Michael and Carole met when they were both working for British Airways. Carole worked as ground staff before becoming a stewardess, while Michael worked as an aircraft dispatcher.
The couple instantly fell in love, and in 1980 they tied the knot. They bought their first home shortly after, a Victorian house situated in Bradfield Southend, near Reading.
In 1982 their first daughter Catherine, better known as Kate, was born. The following year they welcomed their second daughter, Philippa, known as Pippa.
Four years later Carole gave birth to youngest child James, and soon after created her own business.
What do Kate Middleton's parents and siblings do?
She established Party Pieces in 1987, which started out as a company that made party bags.
The business quickly became successful and branched out into party supplies and decorations, with Michael joining the company in 1989.
Party Pieces proved a huge hit with consumers, and in 1995 both Carole and Michael were managing the business full-time. The couple's wealth expanded from there, and they soon began climbing the property ladder. Carole and Michael now live at Bucklebury Manor, a £6million mansion which boasts an 18-acre estate.
Back in 2011, it was estimated that Party Pieces was worth around £30million, and by now is considered to be worth a vast amount more.
Carole and Michael's combined net worth is estimated to be £50million, thanks to their savvy business ventures.
While Kate went on to marry the future king of England, her siblings have also gone on to find success.
Pippa has worked as an author and columnist, and is married to James Matthews, a hedge fund manager and older brother of Made In Chelsea star Spencer.
James, 34, is an entrepreneur who has founded various businesses over the years. He currently owns Ella & Co, an organic dog food company.
