Upstart sustainability-focused platform FUTUREVVORLD has teamed up with Version Tomorrow for its first physical product: two renewable graphic t-shirts. The partnership between digital platform and brand is a fitting one: Version Tomorrow is a sustainable blanks company created by Public School heads Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow with seed money from winning the CFDA + Lexus Fashion Initiative in 2019.
Arriving in black/white and white/black, each tee features a small graphic on its front right chest that spotlights its material blend and shows the logos of its collaborative parties. The back features a larger embellishment with a “We Made This Shirt Because Nobody Else Would” hit above a small Version Tomorrow brand manifesto. Each tee is made from Version Tomorrow’s proprietary blend of recycledand organic ring spun cotton, and is completely free of polyester, rPET or synthetics — which means it’s 100% biodegradable and recyclable.
Apart from the sustainable build, the tees also feature a heavy, high-quality weight, increased stitch count and taped interiors for durability. Even the graphics are Earth-conscious: they’re applied by NYC-based screen printing studio PRINT POSITIV, an outfit that uses technology like PVC-free water-based inks.
“We wanted to partner with Version Tomorrow because there’s an urgent need for streetwear brands to make meaningful environmental considerations in regards to what kind of blanks they print on,” said FUTUREVVORLD co-founder and Editor-in-Chief Daniel Navetta. “In recent years consumers have become more enthusiastic about transparency and [are willing] to pay for higher quality garments. Certain brands will claim that they don’t want to pass additional costs ontotheir consumers, but we’ve repeatedly seen those same consumers pay higher prices for the same shirts via the resale market.”
The FUTUREVVORLD x Version Tomorrow tee will be given away to 10 random FUTUREVVORLD newsletter subscribers and Instagram followers. It will not be available for purchase.
