Hungary 0 England 4: Sterling and Kane lead rout as Southgate's men stay on course to reach World Cup in thumping win

ENGLAND put their Euro 2020 heartbreak behind them and are now heading full steam ahead to Qatar as they brushed Hungary aside in Budapest.

The pain of that shoot-out defeat to Italy still lingers, but Gareth Southgate's men managed to push that disappointment deep down to romp to a 4-0 victory.

Even though they dominated possession in the first period, nerves could have started to creep into the Three Lions in front of the raucous home crowd as they failed to record a shot on target.

But Raheem Sterling shattered any potential doubts just ten minutes after the restart and England did not look back.

Harry Kane quickly added a second with header to double the advantage.

Harry Maguire ensured it was game over in the 69th-minute with another brilliant header.

And after teeing up Sterling for the opener, Jack Grealish provided another assist for Declan Rice to rifle home a fourth late on.

The victory puts England firmly in control in their World Cup qualification group as they sit five points clear at the top.
