Jim White leaves Sky Sports News after 23 years as devastated fans say 'Transfer Deadline Day is RUINED'

SKY SPORTS NEWS presenter Jim White has announced he is leaving the show after 23 years.

The 64-year-old became synonymous for his yellow tie while presenting the Transfer Deadline Day specials.

White posted the news on Twitter with the statement: "After 23 years, it's time to bid farewell to Sky Sports.

"After much thought and with a heavy heart I leave Sky Sports News – but what a journey it has been.

"To all the superb producers, assistant producers, directors and floor managers, a massive thank you. To my fellow presenters, thank you.

Fellow talkSPORT presenter Natalie Sawyer was one of the first to congratulate White on social media.

She wrote: "Congratulations Jim on a super career at Sky! You’ll be missed but forever iconic!"

One person added: "Actually can't believe this hasn't been announced at 22:59 on deadline day. All the best for the future Jim."

Another simply wrote on Twitter: "Deadline day ruined."

On his final broadcast on the show on Friday, White said: "After 23 years here at Sky, I'm signing off. Thanks to everyone here, from camera people to producers, from directors to fellow presenters and reporters.

"Good luck to the Home Nations in the Euros, I'll be at Hampden on Monday working on Scotland's opening game. It's been some 23 years!"
