Christmas is a time for giving.
So when a landlord thought about the financial strain the coronavirus pandemic brought onto one of his tenants, he decided to give them a thoughtful gift.
Instead of buying chocolates or a nice bottle of bubbly, he offered to reduce their rent in January.
The resident was delighted with the gesture and took to Reddit to share their thanks.
They wrote: “Didn’t get any gifts for Christmas except from my landlord.
“He has no idea I’ve been struggling lately.”
The note reads: “Season’s Greetings and best wishes for the coming year.
“Chris, I figured the best Santa gift for you would be taking off half the January rent.
“So just pay $440 (around £328) at the end of this month.
Since it was shared on Reddit, the post has garnered more than 104,000 likes in a matter of hours.
Many praised the landlord for his act of kindness – and told the “struggling” tenant to keep his head up.
One Redditor said: “That's pretty awesome. Sure wish that would happen to me.”
A second commented: “That’s a great landlord.”
A third remarked: “Nice to see some common decency out there.”
Another wrote: “I hope you are able to get the help you need. It’s been a hard year for many!”
And a fifth added: ”It’s been a rough one for us all. Glad you were able to catch some kind of a break.”
