Man left raging after proposing to girlfriend with engagement ring she dislikes

When it comes to proposals, finding the perfect ring or method of popping the question can take ages.

Luckily for some couples, the girlfriend will have given her partner hints as to what sort of ring she likes.

But if she hasn't, then it's all up to the boyfriend to get it right.

One woman hoped her boyfriend would tick all the boxes when it came to the big moment, sadly it wasn't the case.

Sharing her situation on Reddit, the bride-to-be explained how she's been with her fella for three years.

And to make it easy for him, she's often shown him pictures of rings she likes.

She wrote: "I do like bigger diamonds because I have chunkier fingers & I feel like small diamonds get lost on my chubby hands."

The woman had told her partner she would be happy with a bigger moissanite if he couldn't afford a sizeable diamond.

Posting on the forum, she added: "I just wanted moissanite in order to get a bigger rock."

But when the proposal came about, the woman described it as "beautiful", until he showed her the ring.

She continued: "The ring itself was too small. It fit but it made my finger look like the Michelin man.

"It was the complete opposite of everything I showed him – I like simple minimal bands.

"This ring was vintage looking and very busy and the diamond was really small. Even the metal colour was not what i showed him."

Although the woman did her best to hide her feelings, she felt like her partner "didn't care" about what she wanted.

In the first few days, the woman wondered if she should lose weight to make it fit better, until she decided to just come clean.

She wrote: "He got really mad. I asked him why he bought this specific ring knowing what I liked.

"He said it was the ring his mum and grandma helped him pick out – they said the ring was nice."

The woman then suggested they swap the ring for the one she wanted she he could keep the remaining money.

She added: "He's still so mad at me saying how ungrateful and spoiled I am and hasn't even tried to return the ring.

"I even tried getting him to put himself in my shoes and pretend I got him a gold ring instead of his black ring but he doesn't get it.

"I know it's such a dumb situation over a ring, but it really hurts me & makes me feel like he didn't take into consideration anything."

Since she shared her dilemma, many Reddit users rushed to her post, with one writing: "She should feel angry and show it to him."

The user added: "She did nothing wrong, he bought her a ring in the wrong size and in the design she stated she absolutely dislikes!

"And then he has the audacity to get angry and offended about it?! That's how she must react!"

Another continued: "Definitely do not start planning any wedding until these issues have been worked through."
