Mum-of-22 shows reality of having UK’s biggest family with snap of laundry pile

Hate doing the laundry?

Spare a thought for Sue and Noel Radford, who have had to wash the clothes of their 22 children over the years.

On Instagram this week, the parents of Britain’s biggest family showed how much of an ordeal it is to tackle all the items.

Sue, from Morecambe, Lancs, snapped a picture of buckets full of clothes that needed to be washed and tumbled.

The garments spanned from baby onesies, to Disney sweat tops for primary school aged children and jeans for teens or adults.

And as there was so much to process, it’s no surprise Sue captioned the overwhelming image with the hiding monkey emoji.

Previously, 46-year-old Sue revealed her washing machine can hold 18kg of laundry.

She has two driers too, which helps to speed up the process a little.

When that household chore is done, there are plenty more tasks for the Radford parents to tackle too.

Their weekly food shop is a huge effort in itself – and it tends to cost around £400 a week.

On Channel 5 documentary 22 Kids and Counting, Sue revealed: “We go through 16 pints of milk a day, two to three loaves of bread.”

She added: “If we were having sausages for a meal, we’d have maybe 48-56 sausages.

“We’ve got to get lots more than any average family would need.

“I would say that we spend £350-£400 a week on shopping. It’s just massive, it’s never-ending.”

The family’s food bill has “gone through the roof” during the various national lockdowns over the past few months.

Currently, 18 of the Radford children are living with parents Noel and Sue.
