As a member of The Nolans she first performed on television in 1974. She was a full-time member of the group from 1980 to 1994.
She became a regular panelist on ITV daytime show Loose Women from 2000 to 2011 and from 2013 until present day.

Coleen is no stranger to dressing up and is often wearing different costumes on Loose Women.
She strutted her stuff while dressed as Super Woman on the talk show in 2016.
Coleen donned the costume for superhero fan guest Jonathan Ross.
Turning to co-star Katie Price at the time, she joked: "Check these out Katie" and gestured to her chest in the corset top.
Coleen looked like she enjoyed the outfit as she sashayed across the stage in the spangly outfit after emerging from backstage.
Clearly a fan of the look, Nolan's husband at the time of recording, Ray tweeted the show saying "Get home, now."
But the I'm In the Mood for Dancing singer joked: "He probably just wants his tea putting on."
Coleen stripped off alongside a few of her showbiz pals as part of ITV's Real Full Monty.
The girls had nine weeks to put together a routine with Diversity's Ashley Banjo and it's safe to say the ladies' performance turned out to be triumphant and celebrated body confidence.
Real Full Monty earned lots of praise from viewers for raising awareness about the illness and encouraged women to check their breasts regularly to catch any signs early.
Coleen also took part in the second series of the heartwarming series which saw her perform another strip-tease to raise awareness of cancers in intimate areas of the body.
The show’s primary aim is to raise awareness, not charitable donations.
Charities supported included Breast Cancer Care, Breast Cancer Now, CoppaFeel! and Prostate Cancer UK.
The cast of the All Star Full Monty took part in a Calendar Girls-inspired photoshoot which showcased some surprising insecurities and had viewers praising the girls as "inspirational".
Those taking part also shared their inspiring stories about why they opted to join the show, including Victoria Derbyshire opening up about her own battle with breast cancer and Michelle discussing her decision to undergo a double mastectomy to reduce her own chances of getting the illness.
Coleen discussed the death of her sister Bernie Nolan who tragically passed away from cancer in 2013, aged 52.
Coleen's sister Linda is also battling the disease. She was first diagnosed with cancer in 2005 and although it went into remission, the cancer came back in 2017.
Skin-tight lycra outfits
Coleen took part in Dancing On Ice in 2009 and as well as showing off her dancing skills she flaunted her five stone weight-loss in tight unforgiven lycra outfits.
She placed fourth alongside partner Stuart Widdall with Ray Quinn and Maria Fillippov going on to win the show.
Coleen started training for Dancing on Ice two months prior to the show launch.
She admitted she dropped a cup size on her bust and said her weight has remained pretty much the same.
Coleen is often seen in the studio audience supporting her celebrity pals including Loose Women pal Saira Khan.
Coleen has recently admitted that she is happier at the current weight than she ever was as a size 10.
The television presenter, released her own range of best-selling fitness DVDs after shedding five stone in 2009 but she revealed to The Sun Onine that she "lost her personality"after getting down to eight stone.
And while she's recently pledged to lose at least two stone for health reasons, she is adamant she will stop there.
"I kept the weight off for five years, but it was so tough staying at that weight," she told the publication.
"I was training six days a week and watching everything I ate.
"I got down to a size 10 and felt great in that respect and clothes shopping was divine; I could go into any shop and everything would fit, but being thin didn't make me happy.
"I lost a bit of me somewhere – I lost a bit of my personality. I think because part of my personality is always making jokes and putting myself down."
Coleen and her sisters will be back on our screens later this year after The Nolans landed their first TV show and singing reunion together in decades.
The Nolans: In the Mood for Cruising will follow the Nolan sisters Coleen, Linda, Maureen and Anne as they go on their first shared trip and first singing reunion in decades.
The sisters will embark on two cruises around the Mediterranean onboard the MSC Grandiosa and across the eight-episode series they will prepare to perform their hit single I’m In The Mood For Dancing on their final night on the ship in front of their fellow passengers.
Coleen uploaded a fabulous selfie to her Instagram grid on Wednesday, which showed her in natural makeup and large sunglasses, her long brown hair straight and sleek.
Behind her was a beautiful shoreline, clear sea and skies.
Despite being on her travels, the mum-of-three was thinking of home, as her caption showed.
Coleen wrote: "Having a lovely time but missing @ciarafensome @iamshanenolan @jake_roche xx," tagging her three grown-up children Ciara, 18, Shane, 29, and Jake, 27.
Cheeky Shane responded by teasing his mother, commenting: "Shut up mum. We’ve turned the house into a nightclub,"
Unlike her brother, Ciara penned: "Miss you," followed by a red heart emoji and a crying emoji.
