The Millennial generation is said to be between 25 and 40-years-old right now, so no longer spring chickens with Gen Z setting the trends.
However, it seems we have a lot of opinions about what makes us old, judging certain behaviours as pretty ancient, like eating dairy or getting bills in the post.
According to new research from energy retailer Love Energy Savings, the two biggest signs for millennials were putting a hankie up your sleeve and using cash – which came joint top – with 28% of the vote.
Everything from watching the telly to enjoying a book are off-limits for youth-seekers, and talking on the phone is also a no-go.
For some reason, too, 12% of the survey respondents said dating in real life was out of step with the times, meaning your entertainment and communication options are severely limited if you want to appear young.
These results also show the general feeling of the generation, 20% of whom think voting to leave the EU is old, as well as 11% who feel the same about people who don’t put pronouns in their social media bios.
Love Energy Savings CEO Phil Foster comments: ‘How quickly we embrace new technology is one of the defining elements of the growing generation gap in the UK.
‘Our research shows how today’s millennials are left scratching their heads by behaviour that was once entirely par for the course – like watching conventional, broadcast TV and actually using your mobile phone to talk to people – rather than for messaging.’
