Sky’s broadband service is currently experiencing an outage that is leaving frustrated customers unable to access websites and services.
The outage is linked to separate reports of banking services going down this morning and some students are also unable to log in to remote learning platforms.
Gamers are also reporting problems with accessing online multiplayer titles like Call of Duty.
Sky has addressed the problem and says it is working to fix it.
‘Sky Broadband customers may be experiencing issues when trying to access some website this morning,’ a company spokesperson told Metro.co.uk.
‘We’re investigating this as a priority and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.’
As well as bringing web browsing to a halt, the problem is also affecting businesses and other services that rely on Sky’s servers.
Some people have suggested a workaround of manually changing the Domain Name Server (DNS) address to a public-facing one such as that offered by Google. Alternatively, switching to a 4G or 5G mobile signal with a different provider could alleviate problems short-term.
Others have suggested that using a virtual private network (VPN) to translate your IP address to a different location also works.
Frustrated customers have taken to Twitter to complain about the outage, which follows a similar one a few weeks ago.
I’m good at my job. I really am.
But even I can’t ‘please fix the internet’ when Sky broadband is the issue.
Sorry to everyone who thought I was omnipotent.
My internet is down. Wish I had read about the problems with Sky before turning my computer on and off 8 million times, moving a plant away from the Broadband box and blaming the neighbours who were hammering at 8am.

Website access issues are affecting some users today. If you’re a Sky Broadband customer, you may be unable to access some of our services. This includes the @LSHTM Library & Archives website.
We’re looking into the issue and will post any updates. Sorry for any inconvenience â¹ï¸ pic.twitter.com/aFjqT25lNG
