  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-1 WORLD XI

56 – Yungblud has come off for the World XI, meanwhile Nigel De Jong has come on alongside Martin Compston and Darren Fletcher.

I'm not even sure it's still 11 vs 11 anymore.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-1 WORLD XI

54 – If you hadn't noticed already, there's been a LOT of substitutions at half-time. We'll try to give you as many of them as we can, but honestly it's hard to keep up.

We can confirm, however, that Chunkz has just come on for James Arthur for England.

Lee Mack has also just come on for Tom Grennan.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-1 WORLD XI

52 – Dommett makes a real save (a real life, actual save…) Presumably, someone's just told him you can use your hands in goal.

Robbie Keane finds himself in space on the left wing going towards goal and Rooney makes a wonderful tackle.

    Class is permanent.

  • The Sun

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!

    ENGLAND 0-1 WORLD XI

Kem unleashes a very weak effort from just outside the box with his left foot and realistically, a small child should keep that out.

Joel Dommett, however, completely misses it. He boots the air and the ball ends up in the back of the net. A disaster for the substitute.

A goal for the World XI and Dommett looks a right dummy.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

48 – POST! Nigel De Jong sends in what seems to be a cross from wide left and it goes past everyone and hits the post.

Joel Dommett is in no-man's land. The man was not born to be a goalkeeper, that much is fact.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

46 – Stephen Mulhern (still wearing the 'Masked Winger's costume) has just clattered Darren Fletcher.

This has all gone a little bit panto, but that's fine. It's for charity!

  • The Sun

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPP!!!!!

WE'RE BACK UNDERWAY HERE AT THE ETIHAD AND STEPHEN MULHERN GETS US GOING

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

    HALF TIME

The 'Masked Winger' has just been revealed and it's Stephen Mulhern.

'Let down' would be harsh, but…

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

    HALF TIME

Actor David Harewood, who has previously played for England in Soccer Aid, just gave a stirring speech about the importance of the work Unicef does to help children around the world.

Wonderful that an event like this is so much more than a football match and is making a real difference to those who need it most. Well done to everyone getting involved and donating.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

    HALF TIME

David Beckham is out on the pitch chatting to Dermot O'Leary and gets a huge ovation.

Becks reckons Scholesy and Rooney have still got it and thinks Carra and Neville are solid enough at the back.

Has he not been watching Mark Wright and Tom Grennan?

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

    HALF-TIME

It's been pretty even so far and the standard has been pretty good.

It's very competitive and there's been some really good moments of individual quality, most notably from Clarence Seedorf, who hit the post with a free-kick early on.

Wayne Rooney has also impressed, but has yet to really test the World XI goalkeeper.

Tom Grennan has been superb for the World XI, meanwhile Mark Wright has stood out for England.

There's still 45 minutes to play and plenty of substitutions to be made, so you can bet there will be at least goal to come in the second period.

It's been a great spectacle so far, with the likes of David Beckham, Robbie Williams and more all in attendance in support of Unicef, with Robbie struggling not to go and take over from Sven in the dugout…

The coverage presented by Dermot O'Leary, Alex Scott and Maya Jama among others has also been pretty entertaining, but we want goals, goals and goals.

Also, we're still waiting to find out the identity of the masked wingers… any ideas?

Stay with us and we'll bring you live coverage from the second half any minute now.

  • The Sun

    PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!

MARK CLATTENBURG BLOWS HIS WHISTLE AND IT'S HALF-TIME HERE AT SOCCER AID 2021 AT THE ETIHAD STADIUM

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

43 – SHOT! Rooney has another effort from the edge of the box which whacks Pablo Zabaleta and the World XI can clear.

Could he have passed? James Arthur does look absolutely shattered, to be fair. He's not busting a gut to make a run in behind any time soon.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

40 – The ball rattles around the England box like a pinball machine and Chelcee Grimes unleashes a shot on goal which clatters off Mark Wright and there are claims for handball.

Mark Clattenburg tells them to play on and England clear. Where's VAR when you need it?

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

38 – James Arthur tries to dink it in over Shay Given from about 35 yards and it goes over, but it's not a bad effort at all.

World XI send it forward and Roberto Carlos finds himself in the England penalty area but is tackled superbly by Mark Wright, who'll be delighted with himself for that.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

36 – CLOSE! James Bay is released on the right wing by Shaun Wright-Phillips and surges forward into the box.

He has the chance to square it for James Arthur, but he goes for goal and it hits the side netting.

It was well closed down by Tom Grennan also, who closed down the angle quickly.

It's all smiles from Shay Given as he high-fives James Bay, but I suspect it would be a different story if it has gone in…

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

34 – Rooney tees himself up for a first-time volley on the edge of the area but he can't quite send it goal-ward.

We've seen him bury them in the past and you'd bet that if he gets another, he probably won't miss.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

33 – Patrice Evra is down on the touchline and receiving some treatment for what looks like a pain in his knee.

He's been lively for the World XI so far and they really won't want to lose him.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

    31 – WORLD XI SUBS:

    OFF: Big Zuu, Julie Fleeting.

    ON: Robbie Keane, Chelcee Grimes.

No, we're not too sure how either… but we'll roll with it.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

30 – Looks like Robbie Keane is getting ready to come on for the World XI… He's the assistant manager, he can't do that, can he?

Fleeting has a chance from about eight yards out and she screws it well wide. Luckily, she was offside anyway, but about a hair's width.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

28 – Carragher makes a very late challenge on Usain Bolt and the former athlete is on the floor.

He looks okay, but Carra is showing absolutely no signs of apologising. Has anyone told him this is for charity?

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

26 – Tom Grennan again gets it on the left wing and crosses one for Big Zuu. The frontman can't quite control it and is robbed by Mark Wright, who tries to send England on the counter-attack.

Again, England just can't quite get it out quickly enough and it's dealt with by the World XI.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

24 – England looked to be clean through on goal but Harriet Pavlou and James Bay can't quite sort their feet out and end up giving the ball back to the World XI.

Some decent play from Sven's side but they lack any potency up front so far.

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

22 – England growing into the game here and starting to put some passes together and dominating possession.

Rooney's in acres of space on the right wing and puts a ball in for Shaun Wright-Phillips to chase, but there's just a bit too much on it.

It's a great battle between Rooney and Grennan and so far the singer is probably coming out on top… who'd have thought it?

  • The Sun

    ENGLAND 0-0 WORLD XI

20 – CLOSE! Mark Wright goes on a marauding run from left-back and uses that weapon of a left-foot to unleash an absolute thunderbolt at goal.

Shay Given is beaten but it crashes into the side netting, only inches wide. Good attempt from Wright.
