If you’re on beauty TikTok, you’ve definitely seen the name CeraVe pop up on your “For You” page at some point.
Developed with and recommended by dermatologists, the skincare brand makes some of the best cleansers around and went viral on TikTok during the pandemic, causing many of its products to sell out completely.
To date CeraVe has now racked up an incredible 1.4 billion views on the app, with beauty fans raving about everything from the Hydrating Cleanser,£9.50 here, to the SA Smoothing Cream,£12 here.
And while the majority of its products are only available in the US, another cult favourite has just landed on UK shores: Micellar Cleansing Water,£10 here.
Packed with the brand’s go-to three ceramides, hydrating hyaluronic acid and skin refining niacinamide, it really comes with a host of skin benefits as well as removing makeup.
So, how does it fare? Beauty writer Lucy put it to the test…
I’ve been a fan of CeraVe ever since they launched in the UK. The range of products available in its US home country is much bigger than what we have available here, so it’s always exciting when one makes its way across the pond.
Although micellar water is no replacement for a proper cleanser, I often use it to take off the bulk of my makeup if I’ve got a full face on before going in with my main cleanse, so I was excited to see how CeraVe’s offering performed.
Overall it was a great success: I found that it lifts makeup really easily, including most mascaras, but what’s really notable about this micellar is how soft it leaves your skin. My complexion was left makeup-free and not stripped of all life, and the formula is nice and gentle.
My only (tiny) complaint about CeraVe’s offering would be that, at a tenner for just under 300ml, it’s more expensive than many of the other options that are available to buy on the high street. But, thanks to its fragrance free and ultra gentle formula, this one really does perform and is a worthy investment.
I’m already halfway through the bottle, so it’s a definite thumbs up from me!
