Alec Baldwin Enlists Former Top Lawmaker to Face ‘Rust’ Shooting Lawsuits

The ’30 Rock’ actor and his fellow producers have hired former assistant district attorney to represent them in the civil lawsuits launched by ‘Rust’ crew following deadly incident.

AceShowbizAlec Baldwin and his fellow producers at Rust Productions LLC have recruited a former Los Angeles assistant district attorney to represent them for civil suits linked to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Baldwin fired the bullet which killed Hutchins on the Santa Fe, New Mexico set of western “Rust” on 21 October (21) after being told the prop gun he was holding was “cold”, and therefore full of blanks.

Criminal charges could be filed if the New Mexico District Attorney finds cause to charge anyone for Hutchins’ wrongful death, but Baldwin and his fellow producers are already facing two civil suits and they have hired attorney Aaron S. Dyer of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman to represent them.

Script supervisor Mamie Mitchell and set gaffer Serge Svetnoy have filed suit against the producers.

They were both on set when the accident took place. Svetnoy held Hutchins in his arms as she died.

The tragic cinematographer’s husband and son have recruited attorney Brian J. Panish to represent them, but they have not yet filed suit.

Meanwhile, investigations into the fatality on the set of “Rust” are ongoing.

Officials found live rounds along with dummy bullets on set.

Rumor has it, crew members enjoyed target practice with live bullets in between scenes, but armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed insisted she had no idea where the live bullets came from. Her attorney suggested sabotage might have played a role in the deadly incident.

Alec Baldwin, who stars as well as co-produces the movie, described his crew as a “very, very well-oiled” machine despite reports of incompetence.

Halyna Hutchins was laid to rest at a private ceremony over the weekend.
