'Axed' Hollyoaks star 'overwhelmed' by fan support: 'You've got my back'

Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn has taken to social media to thank fans for their support in the wake of her departure from the popular serial drama.

The Mandy Richardson star exited the show earlier this week, following a dispute with bosses over her OnlyFans account.

She told her followers that her aim in launching an account on the subscription platform was to take back control of her image, and ‘choose empowerment’.

Hollyoaks released a statement on Wednesday, stating that they take their responsibility to their young audience ‘very seriously’, and therefore they do not allow cast members to be active on ‘certain 18+ websites’

Sarah was therefore forced to part ways with the Channel 4 soap.

Fans were upset over Hollyoaks’ position on the matter, with several branding the serial drama ‘hypocritical’ considering that their own cast used to pose for ‘babes’ and ‘hunks’ calendars.

Sarah, 40, has taken to Instagram to thank fans for all the support and kindness she’s received in the wake of the news breaking, revealing that she’s been ‘overwhelmed’.

‘Hey everybody!,’ she said in a video she shared on Instagram Stories. ‘It’s been a manic, manic week but I just want to jump on here quickly and say thank you, thank you so much for all of your support.

‘I’ve been so overwhelmed by the response and how amazing you’ve all been and how reassuring, yeah, you’ve got my back. It’s lovely.

‘I just wanted to say a big thank you for the bottom of my heart and have a lovely Friday.’

The soap star discussed her exit from Hollyoaks in an interview with The Sun, revealing that she’s ‘disappointed’ with what has happened.

‘I’m disappointed it has come to this, after so many years,’ she told the publication. ‘I’ve loved being on Hollyoaks and I will miss the amazing cast and crew very much. But I feel like I had to take a stand.’
