Bridgerton planning a whopping EIGHT seasons after breaking Netflix's Christmas records

BRIDGERTON'S boss has hinted the show will run for a whopping eight seasons after breaking Netflix's Christmas records.

It was revealed earlier this month that the period drama had been streamed by 63 million households since it arrived on Netflix on Christmas Day.

Fans have been left desperate to know if there will be more seasons, and now showrunner Chris Van Dusen has hinted there could be up to eight.

He told Collider: "This being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure.

“I would love that [eight season]. In success, I would love that."

The Netflix series is based on the Bridgerton books by Julia Quinn, with the first novel focusing on Daphne Bridgerton and her on-off romance with Duke Simon Basset.

But Chris thinks future series could focus in on other members of the family, saying: "It's interesting, I think it's too early to tell right now.

“I think that we're along for the ride of Daphne and Simon's love story this first season.

“And, I think we've done some work in Season 1 to set up other characters.

“We really dig into Anthony's love story.”

The 63 million stat released by Netflix is based on total viewing hours and average viewing hours per subscriber.

The total made it Netflix’s fifth biggest original series launch of all time.

Bridgerton is available on Netflix now.
