Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman caught up with EastEnders’ star Rose Ayling-Ellis and her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice on Sunday’s instalment of the popular BBC show. After being sent through to next week’s round of the competition, Rose, 26, made a candid admission about her newfound addiction spurred on by dancing. The actress ended up leaving Claudia speechless after telling her how one element has “changed her life”.

During the episode, Claudia asked the couple about Rose’s newfound love of the spray tan she developed from being part of the live dance performances.

Claudia said: “You have discovered – and this was a shock to you – a love of spray tan?”

Rose enthusiastically replied: “Yes, because before Strictly I have never had a spray tan.

“But now, every time it fades off on a Tuesday, I just want a spray tan again.”

Claudia, who also had a golden glow, joked: “All I can say is welcome to my world, honestly.”

Rose added: “It’s changed my life.”

Rose’s confession left the presenter lost for words and she let out a loud chuckle.

Viewers took to Twitter to back Rose on her spray tan admission, with Jennifer Hall commenting: “Rose is the spray tan queen! You look gorgeous.”

Betty Redondo added: “Love that @RoseAylingEllis is obsessed with spray tans.”

Rose and Giovanni were first up on Saturday as they performed a Cha Cha for the judges and BBC viewers.

They received a lukewarm reception, with head judge Shirley Ballas highlighting a number of “mistakes” they made during their routine.

However, the pair made it through to the next instalment of the competition and Rose will be continuing to teach Giovanni, 31, sign language.

Giovanni has been learning British Sign Language in order to communicate more effectively with Rose, who is the show’s first-ever deaf contestant.

Claudia asked: “Giovanni, you have been learning so much signing, can you give us a taste, please?”

The dancer signed out the words ‘commitment’, ‘focus’, ‘quick’, ‘slow’, ‘improvement’ and ‘shockingly horrible’ to the cameras under Rose’s instruction.

Showing her sense of humour, she added “And very rarely, well done,” before the trio burst into laughter.

“You are both fantastic, we will see you next Saturday,” Claudia told the couple.

Social media users couldn’t resist commenting on the duo’s connection, with Louise tweeting: “Rose and Giovanni are just the cutest partnership ever to grace us on the show! I love how he is learning sign language. She’s so sweet and her personality is just a joy.”

Ann added: “Seeing Giovanni doing sign language for rose on #strictly actually makes me really emotional, that he’s made the effort to learn even some of the signs? I think we should all learn sign language, I really think it should be compulsory at schools.”

On Sunday night’s show, Sense and Sensibility actor Greg Wise and professional partner Karen Hauer were sent home after the judges chose to save Judi Love and Graziano Di Prima.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One.
