Coronation Street star explains why Emma has never found love

Coronation Street’s Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) is what some might say unlucky in love.

The popular ITV soap character has embarked on numerous romances since rocking up on the cobbles three years ago.

In spite of her efforts, however, she hasn’t yet found the one, and – more often than not – she unfairly ends up feeling like the consolation prize to the men in her life.

‘Bless her!, She’s given it a good go hasn’t she?’, actress Alexandra Mardell said to Metro.co.uk. ‘But I think she just goes running in way too quickly, gets way too obsessed.

‘Unfortunately, it just turns out that it isn’t her Prince charming.

‘Having the opportunity to play those kind of failing relationships is amazing, that’s where all the fun is, but it would be nice to see what she’s like in a long-term relationship, because I’ve not had the chance to follow that through yet!

Alexandra’s wish might just be about to get granted – as will Emma’s, it would seem – as handsome newcomer Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) is about to sweep her off her feet!

‘I think as soon as she sees an attractive young man she’s already got her starts blinking!,’ explained the soap star. ‘She’s thinking of all the possibilities that could happen. But I wouldn’t say it was love at first sight. There is a bit of drama with Steve but she’s always considering this is the one.’

‘Curtis is just charming and really intelligent as well, he looks hardworking and have a roleplay, an interview scenario – so she can see the good qualities that he’s got, she’s really impressed.’

One to watch: Monday May 24 at 7:30pm on ITV.
