Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh teases return to hit ITV soap as Michelle Connor

Kym Marsh has teased a possible return to Coronation Street after quitting the soap in 2019.

At the time Kym, 44, hoped to take on new ventures but with the coronavirus lockdown coming into play just five months later her plans were left in the balance.

However, luckily, despite some projects falling through, Kym kept 'really busy' and says she knows how fortunate she was when many actors were left without additional government help and out of work.

Reminiscing about her time on the show, Kym said: "I really do miss everyone, I really miss the street.

"When I left I always said I’d come back one day and I will.

"I just needed to get out and take a little breather and do some other things. I have no doubt that one day I’ll go back there and dip my toe back in."

She added to Entertainment Daily: "Obviously the year I left was really weird.

"I left in October 2019 and went straight into doing loads of other bits and bobs and I had loads of stuff planned for the year after that obviously all fell through.

"I thought, oh no, what a year to leave!"

Kym played the character of Michelle Connor from April 2006.

The former Hear'Say member quickly picked up critical acclaim for her role and was nominated for a National Television Award and a British Soap Award.

In 2017 she won the gong for Best Female Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards.

Since leaving Corrie Kym has presented BBC One sow Morning Live alongside former Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones, 42.

However, while the second series of the show is slated to kick off next week Kym won't be there due to an urgent operation.

A BBC source told MailOnline: "We are expecting Kym to appear on air next week via Zoom."

She is thought to be having her hernia removed after being in pain for months.

A source told The Sun: "Kym has been trying to have the operation for a while now as the problem she has is causing her quite a lot of discomfort.

"She finally got a slot and then the dates for Morning Live moved slightly meaning they clashed.

"She's gutted to be missing the first week of the second series alongside Gethin but she really needs this sorting."
