RUBY Allen distracts Martin Fowler by telling him that Jean Slater is dying of cancer next week in EastEnders.
Jean – who has terminal cancer – dropped a huge bombshell ultimatum on Ruby after she finally confessed to framing her daughter Stacey for causing her miscarriage earlier this month.
Jean told Ruby she had until she returned from visiting her son Sean to tell Martin about her evil lies – or she will.
Next week’s episodes of EastEnders will see Martin confront Ruby when he tries to withdraw some cash but is told there are insufficient funds.
Martin asks Ruby if she’s giving all their money to Jean and she drops the bombshell that she has terminal cancer.
Later in the week, Ruby reveals she’s ovulating but Martin insists he isn’t in the mood after hearing about Jean.
When Lily reveals that Jean is on her way home, Ruby starts to panic and tells Martin they should go away for a while.
Martin is quick to shut her down, insisting that Jean needs them – much to Ruby’s horror.
Will Jean reveal the truth to Martin?
Viewers know that Stacey was sentenced to a year in prison after Ruby lied that she’d pushed her down the stairs and caused her miscarriage, despite already having lost her baby.
After Ruby confessed to Jean in recent scenes, she tried to explain and made a number of excuses.
“She made my life a misery. She hurt me. She humiliated me,” Ruby told Jean.
“She came to the club that day to have another go at me and she knew I was pregnant, but that didn’t matter to me. Stacey didn’t push me but it’s her fault I lost that baby.
“You’ve seen everything me and Martin have been through, and we might have a chance. Please don’t take that away from me.”
