How Bridgerton Will Be Different In Season 2

How Bridgerton Will Be Different In Season 2

“Bridgerton” Season 2 is coming in 2021, without Regé-Jean Page. Obsessed fans are still shedding tears over the loss of the Duke of Hastings, but there are many reasons to be happy about the upcoming “Bridgerton” episodes. Even though Page isn’t returning, there’s still much to love about the Regency romance series.

Daphne Bridgerton, a.k.a. Phoebe Dynevor, talked to The Wrap about how “Bridgerton” Season 2 will address Page’s exit from the show. Dynevor said Page’s departure was a “surprise for the fans that love Daphne and Simon’s story so much.” But she added, “I think he’ll definitely be referred to a lot. I think we’ll see the baby. And we’ll just focus more on [Daphne’s] relationship with the Bridgerton family.”

There are eight books in Julia Quinn’s “Bridgerton” series; every “Bridgerton” book focuses on a different Bridgerton sibling. In Season 2, the Netflix series will follow Quinn’s second book, “The Viscount Who Loved Me,” which tells the eldest son, Anthony Bridgerton’s, love story. British hunk Jonathan Bailey plays Anthony Bridgerton, and viewers will get to see another side of his character in the second season of “Bridgerton.” In addition, Season 2 of the Netflix hit series is sure to have many steamy scenes between Anthony and his true love match, Kate. Simone Ashley is Kate Sharma in 'Bridgerton' Season 2

Simone Ashley will play Kate Sharma in the second season of “Bridgerton.” Per a statement from Netflix, Kate is a “smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools,” making her a perfect mate for the sometimes-arrogant Anthony Bridgerton.

In the “Bridgerton” books, Anthony’s soulmate is named Kate Sheffield. But as Ashley is of South Asian descent, the character’s name was changed to Kate Sharma in the Netflix series. It’s a small change that’s generated praise from “Bridgerton” fans who love the diversity in the Shonda Rhimes series.

We won’t give away too much about the story for the second season, but when Anthony meets Kate, he initially tries to woo her younger sister. However, Kate doesn’t like the idea of the Bridgerton brother marrying her sister and clashes with Anthony. If you’re not already hooked on “Bridgerton,” we predict that Season 2 will make you a fan.

Fans will see Edmund Bridgerton in 'Bridgerton' Season 2

Rupert Evans will play Edmund Bridgerton in the second season of “Bridgerton,” per Deadline. Evans plays the father of the Bridgerton family; he’s seen in flashbacks as part of Anthony Bridgerton’s story. In the first season of Shondaland’s Netflix series, viewers know that Edmund died, but the details surrounding his life and death aren’t shared.

In the second season (based on Julia Quinn’s novel “The Viscount Who Loved Me”), fans see how much in love the Bridgerton parents are and how happy the family was prior to Edmund’s death. Oldest son Anthony is hit hardest of the siblings by his dad’s sudden death, and viewers will understand the arrogant-seeming Anthony more. Viscountess Bridgerton was pregnant with their youngest daughter Hyacinth Bridgerton when her husband died!

The “Bridgerton” story is such a hit, and fans are so interested in all of the characters, the folks at Shondaland already have a prequel in the works. The “Bridgerton” prequel tells the story of young Queen Charlotte, young Lady Danbury, and Violet Bridgerton. Plus, in April 2021, Netflix announced the green light for Seasons 3 and 4. There is much more fun (and more sex scenes) to come for the series that’s been described as “‘Gossip Girl’ meets ‘Downton Abbey.'”
