Season 2 of comedy drama show The Great has kicked off along with a star studded line-up.

The series is available to watch on Hulu and Channel 4, but how many episodes are in the new season?

How many episodes are there in The Great season 2?

The latest season of The Great will run for the same amount of episodes as the first.

There will be total of 10 episodes which will play out the second season's story.

The Great season 2 premieres on Channel 4 on 27 July 2022 at 10pm.

However it has been available in the US on Hulu since Friday 19 November, 2021.

How many season of The Great are there?

There have been two seasons of The Great so far.

However, fans of the show have had their wishes come true as it looks as though a third season is on the cards.

Hulu announced in January 2022, during Disney's Television Critics Association winter press tour, that the series had been renewed and that the new season will consist of 10 episodes like previous seasons.

What happened in season 1?

Season one follows a young Catherine the Great as she comes to Russia to get married to Peter III of Russia.

However, she finds that there is a law in Russia that if an emperor dies without an heir, the throne will ultimately be given to the empress.

This triggers Catherine to plot to overthrow her husband.

The season ended on a cliff hanger, after plotting to kill her husband while having an affair with a character called Leo.

Catherine is faced with the decision to save her lover or focus on becoming Catherine the Great.

Despite knowing his wife is against him, Peter chooses to spare Catherine due to her being pregnant with their child.

However, the season ends on a note that suggests that Catherine is willing to sacrifice her Leo in order to win.

Despite being based on the real life Catherine the Great, the satirical elements of the series show that it is only loosely based on historical events.
