I’M a Celebrity’s Adam Woodyatt has admitted he does not know if or when he will return to EastEnders.
The actor — known to millions as Ian Beale since the soap started in 1985 — is on a break from the show.
And he revealed his contract with the BBC has expired.
Speaking before checking in at Gwrych Castle, he said: “Why have I finally said yes? Because I am not in EastEnders. That is the honest answer.
“I am not in contract with the BBC so I can come and do it. It’s the first chance I’ve had.
“I’m just quite happy doing what I’m doing at the moment, which is doing I’m a Celeb.”
Adam, 53, left Albert Square in January for an unexplained break and has been busy with theatre work and helping with his pal’s burger van.
On a return to Walford, Adam said: “To be honest with you, I don’t know the answer.
"And it’s also not just my decision, it’s a BBC decision. There’s lots of factors that come into it.
“I’m just taking it as it comes along. There’s no plan.”

Adam will be seen entering the camp in tonight’s show.
He hopes viewers will be able to see he is more than just Ian.
He said: “That was a character that I played. That was the previous job, it’s not me.”
