'Little House on the Prairie': Alison Arngrim Once Called This Castmate 'The Biggest B*tch on the Set'

Whenever you have a large cast, it’s likely that some actors simply won’t get along. The stars of Little House on the Prairie are no exception to this phenomenon. Thanks to various different personalities, things weren’t always as warm and fuzzy behind-the-scenes as they were on screen. In fact, some members of the cast still haven’t gotten over their disdain for certain actors on the show years later. Alison Arngrim, for example, doesn’t have the best memories of one of her fellow Little House on the Prairie castmates.

Fans of Little House on the Prairie will recall that Arngrim played Nellie Oleson on the show. Of course, Nellie was the villian that everyone loved to hate. Famed for her conceited attitude and bullying ways, Nellie was every bit of a mean girl. But while Arngrim may have played a brat on screen, she shared that another actor was actually a nightmare in real life.

Alison Arngrim gets candid about her ‘Little House on the Prairie’ castmate

In a 2008 interview with Steppin’ Out magazine, Arngrim got very candid about her former castmates. She shared that one person, in particular, was especially difficult to work with. “The biggest bi*ch on the set of Little House On The Prairie was Melissa Sue Anderson!” Arngrim declared. “Poor little blind Mary. She was seriously high-maintenance. She’s not working now. She finally gave up. Plus she married a guy with a lot of money.”

But what made Anderson so challenging to work with according to Arngrim? Apparently, Anderson didn’t have the best attitude. To make matters worse, Anderson’s mother was allegedly an overbearing presence on the set of Little House on the Prairie which, obviously, didn’t help Arngrim’s opinions about her.

Why Arngrim called Melissa Sue Anderson a b*tch

“She was so difficult on the show,” Arngrim shared about her Little House on the Prairie castmate. “OK, playing a blind girl is a drag, but she was a b*tch before she went blind. I really think it was her mother. She was the worst stage mother. She was a very troubled woman. Almost as bad as Dina Lohan. It was like hanging out with Yoda all day. I really don’t know what her trip was. If the show was being done now, she would be wearing hair extensions and having her nails done on the set. She would be totally Paris Hilton about the whole thing.”

It seems that years after Little House on the Prairie ended, Arngrim still felt a sense of disdain toward Anderson. In 2008, she was still upset about Anderson’s personal choice to denounce her American citizenship. She made her feelings crystal clear as she continued to show displeasure for Anderson’s choices. Clearly, some members of the cast of Little House on the Prairie had some very strong feelings for one another. Fortunately for fans, it would appear that they didn’t let their personal feelings affect the show itself.
