Lorraine Kelly has returned from her summer break and things got off to an emotional start as Michelle Heaton broke down in tears moments into her interview.
The former Liberty X star appeared on the show where she sat down with the Scottish anchor for a candid chat, in which she opened up about her battle with alcohol addiction – apologising as she admitted she'd drank before her previous appearances on the ITV show.
"How are you, how are you feeling?" Lorraine asked.
"I am great, now," Michelle started. "I really am. I promised myself I wouldn't cry."
Breaking down in tears, Michelle said: "I wanted to say sorry to you," as she spoke to the host.
"There were times when I drank before I sat on this sofa and you trusted me, and I did campaigns for you, and I love you so much because you've always been there to support me, and I want to say I'm sorry."
Lorraine then teared up too, before saying: "Oh Michelle, don't be daft. You don't have to apologise to me or to anybody else."
Michelle then opened up about her struggles, while Lorraine listened and comforted the star.

"I was in trouble with addiction many years ago, it got worse during lockdown. I was able to hide it because of lockdown I suppose," Michelle revealed on the show.
"At some point I lost complete control, I was completely powerless to alcohol, I don't know when or how it happened, but at some point it did.
"I couldn't breathe without drinking. I couldn't get out of bed. I was physically sick."

Revealing that she has begun to heal, Michelle explained how her body is changing due to the addiction she endured: "My liver was packing in, pancreas doesn't work any more, I've lost a bit of weight and it's not intentional.
"It's like being reborn almost, because I can feel every emotion."
Lorraine then chatted with the star, praising her for her strength, while the pair spoke about Michelle's nine year old daughter, who was waiting backstage.
Michelle revealed that she had battled with addiction for "a long time" and then admitted that she has never performed on stage sober.
She explained how when she goes on tour with Liberty X very soon, she'll be performing sober and she's very excited about it.
The interview concluded and the show went to an ad-break, before Lorraine read out some messages from the viewers.
"What an amazing interview, you really are an incredible woman to come back from that dark place," one said.
While another said: "What a woman Michelle is, I take my hat off to you girl, we are all with you."
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
