Million Pound Pawn guest cries 'I feel sick' as she discovers the truth about Rolex watch | The Sun

A GUEST on Million Pound Pawn was left in shock after discovering the truth about a rare Rolex watch she was hoping to sell.

After returning to screens on Thursday night, pawnbroker Dan Hatfield was joined on the ITV show by guest Kathryn.

Kathryn had brought in a "beautiful" watch – which she hoped to confirm was a real Rolex and cash in for some big money.

The watch had belonged to a resident in a nursing home called Lou, who sadly passed away from coronavirus last year.

Kathryn – who had cared for Lou before her death – was gifted the watch by his wife following his tragic passing.

The guest was left stunned when she was told by antiques expert Dan that the watch was confirmed to be a "really rare" Rolex.

"Rolex's are the most faked watches," Dan explained of his careful evaluation of the piece as he sat opposite Kathryn.

"So far this looks good as it has got everything I would expect it to have," Dan told the guest. "It's beautiful and lovely."

Kathryn went on to share the emotional story of how she was gifted the watch when she worked in a tearoom at a nursing home.

"I used to go out and get the residents and take them down to the teashop and Lou was one of the first that came into the nursing home and he had dementia," she explained.

"His personality was out of this world and his partner Christine used to come and visit him and that is how we started our friendship."

Kathryn cried as she explained that Lou was one of 20 residents who passed away from Covid-19 last year.

"Lou died and I was really heartbroken and then I was made redundant, I can't believe I am not there, I can't believe Covid had taken away everything that I love," she added.

Christine gifted Kathryn the watch, but the guest explained she'd rather use the money to "do something in memory of Lou".

Having studied the watch, Dan confirmed that it was a "really rare" model – worth more than Kathryn's aim of £3,000.

"The offer I want to make to you is £15,550," Dan told Kathryn as she sobbed more at the revelation it was a Rolex Oysterquartz.

"I never expected this in a million years and I really thought it could be fake," she went on. "I feel sick. It's a lot of money."
