Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah) has been a firm fan-favourite on NCIS: Los Angeles ever since the character first graced the screen in the CBS drama’s pilot back in 2009. Over the course of 280 episodes, the NCIS special agent has faced more than her fair share of drama, from near-death explosions to her adorable romance with Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen). And it was the man who plays her on-screen husband who couldn’t resist teasing Ruah about where it all began.

Heading into the 13th season of NCIS: LA later this year, it’s hard for fans to imagine the series without their favorite couple, affectionately known as “Densi”.

However, back in the very first season, this was the case Kensi fought crime alongside the like of G Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) without her other half.

Deeks wasn’t introduced to the fray until the very final few episodes of the show’s debut run – although it didn’t take long for the pair to hit things off.

And over a decade on, the on-screen husband and wife duo clearly still have a strong bond on and off-camera as Olsen posted a cheeky throwback of Ruah to tease her about their early days on the show.

Taking to his Instagram stories, Olsen reposted a snap of Ruah in character of Kensi from season one.

He captioned the snap with the cheeky comment: “@danielaruah 117 years ago during season one.”

Blown away by the fresh-faced and young Kensi in the photos, Ruah quickly replied with her shock and the unrecognisable snaps.

“Holy shmoly…” she began. “Remember when we were puppies?”

The images in question came from Ruah’s appearance in the season one episode titled Breach, the 11th of the series.

To refresh fans’ memories, in the episode, which aired before Deeks’ introduction, the IMDb synopsis reads: “An impaired driver crashes a stolen car into a strip joint; the driver dies, as does a patron, a Navy petty officer; the Callen team investigate,

“G finds a body inside a refrigerator and Sam gets a promising lead; they grab the bad guy.”

Whether Kensi and the team will face a similar ordeal in season 13 remains to be seen but for now, fans do have a release date to look forward to.

NCIS season 19: Fans fear drama will be cancelled after Harmon news

Earlier this month, it was announced by CBS that NCIS: LA season 13 would premiere on Sunday, October 10 at 9pm, soon followed by the SEAL Team season five premiere at 10pm.

The 19th season of the flagship drama led by Mark Harmon will get underway in an all-new time slot, premiering on Monday, September 20 at 9pm.

While new spin-off NCIS: Hawaii takes the 10pm slot on the same day as the main series.

Sadly for NCIS: New Orleans fans, the series was cancelled after its season seven finale and won’t be returning.

And it’s safe to say fans cannot wait to see Deeks, Kensi and the rest of the team back in action.

Responding to the show’s official Instagram page after the announcement, one replied: “Congratulations [fire emoji] I can’t wait. Season 13 let’s go.”

“Expecting baby Densi!!!!!” a second predicted, while a third weighed in: “I can’t wait to watch the new season.”

“YAY!! I CAN’T WAIT,” added a fourth, with a fifth commenting: “Can. Not. Wait [applause emoji].”

NCIS: Los Angeles season 13 premieres on CBS on Sunday, October 10.
