Ranvir Singh has shared her excitement about stepping into Lorraine Kelly’s shoes to host her early morning ITV show this summer.
Ranvir, who is already a familiar face on our screens thanks to Good Morning Britain, will front Lorraine for two weeks from Monday 19 July to Friday 30 July.
The star, who has previously guest hosted the long-running show, can’t wait to be heading up the programme once more.
The 43 year old presenter said: “It’s such a privilege to do the show because I’m a massive fan of Lorraine, obviously.”
The star, who also appeared on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing alongside dance partner Giovanni Pernice, continued: “She’s so supportive and wonderful. So to be sitting in her seat is just such a lovely moment. I started doing it before Christmas, I feel so at home there and the team is amazing.”
Speaking about what she’s particularly looking forward to about her stint, Ranvir added: “What I love about doing the show is, because I’m so used to doing such a lot of hard news and politics – and of course Lorraine covers all of the hard stories as well – but it’s a chance for a lighter touch.”
“Just to be able to speak to guests about what’s going on in their lives, as opposed to always looking for a headline. I just really enjoy that, spending time talking to people in a way that you can’t in three minute interviews. It’s just a real thrill for me!”
Ranvir also went on to reveal that Lorraine has gone out of her way to make her feel welcome.
The mum-of-one explained: “She gave me her dressing room, which was really sweet of her because it's got all her stuff in it.”
“She just said, ‘The team is brilliant and have a hoot!’ I text her when I’m on the show and she’ll text me.”
While many would worry about the early start involved in a job like Lorraine, Ranvir knows only too well about early wake-up calls from her time on the Good Morning Britain desk.
She said: “The morning meeting takes place at 6:30am for Lorraine. So I leave the house at 5:30am to get in for 6:30am so I’m up at 5am, so I suppose I do get an extra hour and a bit.”

Ranvir added: “And it does make a difference actually, you do feel a bit more human.”
As to what’s in store when she takes over at the helm, Ranvir is keeping tight-lipped for now – although she says she has plenty up her sleeves to keep viewers at home entertained.
She explained: “I've made lots of suggestions to the team about what I’d love to talk about and they want me to be involved in the guests we have on, but I’m going to keep it top secret until it’s all confirmed!”
Lorraine weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITV Hub
