Eurovision fans were speechless after Sam Ryder’s performance.
The singer, who was representing the United Kingdom in tonight’s grand final, was showered with praise on social media for his “incredible” and “passionate performance of his track, Space Man.
In fact, it seemed that for many viewers he was better than they expected given previous UK entries – especially as last year’s track by James Newman received no points at all.
One fan wrote: “Honestly this is such a good song! Proper#Eurovisionanthem.”
Another tweeted: “Sam Ryder is much better than I expected.”
“Sam Ryder might be one of the best voices we’ve ever had to represent us,” one wrote. “Voice of an ANGEL.”

There was also praise for his glitzy outfit and the performance’s overall staging, which saw Sam singing and playing guitar inside a fractured cage, lit up in silver and gold.
One tweet read: “First time I’ve heard it. After all the years of duds, we’ve finally met the brief. Well done@SamRyderMusic. You nailed it!”
“He nailed it. And the staging didn't suck, for once,” wrote another viewer.
In a review of his black jumpsuit covered in silver constellations, another commented: “Sam Ryder best outfit of the night.”
Referring to last year’s performance by James Newman, for which the UK received nil points from both the juries and televotes, one viewer tweeted: “If we don’t get points again this year I swear to god… Sam Ryder sounded amazing.”
And others predicted Sam will have a huge career after Eurovision.
“No matter what happens Sam Ryder is going to be an international superstar,” one tweet read.
