I’m A Celeb: Shaun gets fright in the night after snoring

The returning stars to I’m A Celebrity…South Africa have only been in the jungle five minutes, but 2010 runner-up Shaun Ryder is already having a rough time of it.

Monday night saw his arch nemesis from the 2010 show, Gillian McKeith, make a return to camp.

Now spoilers for the next episode have shown things don’t get any easier for him.

As he tries to get out of bed, he is left in intense pain after his hip suddenly pops out.

Shaun yells: “My f***ing hip!” as Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell and cricket legend Phil Tufnell rush to his assistance, exclaiming: “I heard that! Are you alright, boy?”

Shaun reassures his campmates: “I’m alright, I’m alright, it went back.”

The show has been pre-recorded and Shaun has since spoken about the incident.

“When I went into the last show at 48, I was in reasonable condition,” he said.

“I didn’t really have an overactive thyroid which makes you fat. I didn’t have full-body alopecia.”

He continued: “I didn’t have a false hip and another that needed to be replaced.”

“So yeah, a lot of change by the time I was 60 for this show,” he confessed.

“You know, I thought mentally I was still the same. Physically, I wasn’t.

“I was also down on my testosterone because I kept forgetting to put my special gel on. So I went into full menopause,” he revealed.

Of his hip he said: “It just came out, and it woke up everybody. I thought, ‘Am I going to be rushed to hospital to get this thing back?’

“No way. So as soon as it came out, I pushed it back in myself!”

Shaun’s rude and painful awakening came after a rough night, which saw Fatima disturb his sleep as she tried to stop his snoring.

Fed up of listening to him the Olympian tried to adjust his position in the hopes of making him be quiet.

But instead, she gave Shaun a fright when she woke him up.

“He really snores. It sounded like someone who was drowning underwater,” said Fatima.

Later, in the Bush Telegraph, Shaun said: “I thought Fatima had come to assassinate me in the middle of the night! She’d come to tell me to stop snoring.”

I’m A Celebrity…South Africa is on ITV at 9pm nightly.
