The Story of Tracy Beaker cast now – Strictly fame, Glee job and £3m record deal

It's almost two decades since The Story of Tracy Beaker first graced our screens and 30 years since the books were released.

The popular CBBC show documented the life of main character Tracy Beaker and the other children living in the Dumping Ground.

There was plenty of drama during the series, ranging from feuds between other kids and some of them attempting to escape the care home.

Dani Harmer, who played main character Tracy Beaker has gone on to further her acting career, while some of the other cast members have chosen different career paths.

Daily Star takes a look at what the entire cast has been up to since the show ended in 2005.

Dani Harmer – Tracy Beaker

Dani was the star of the show as she played Tracy – a lovable child who was a bit rough around the edges.

At the end of the programme in 2005, she was eventually fostered and then adopted by Cam.

When Dani left the show, she signed a record deal worth £3m in 2008, seeing her release a single called Free.

However, it only reached 117 in the charts. She eventually quit music altogether in 2012.

In 2010, Tracy Beaker Returns came to our screens, and it saw Dani trade places as Tracy came back as a worker in the care home. Dani later quit after three series.

In 2020 it was announced that Dani would be starring in My Mum Tracy Beaker where Dani returns as Tracy who is now a single mum with her 12-year-old daughter Jess.

Montanna Thompson – Justine Littlewood

Justine was Tracy's arch nemesis while they were both in the Dumping Ground also returning in My Mum Tracy Beaker where their relationship hasn't changed.

After her first stint on the original show, Montanna went on to act in The Last Detective, Sugar Rush, Doctors, Casualty and Close Relations

Montanna became a mum when she welcomed a baby boy in 2017.

Clive Rowe – Norman 'Duke' Ellington

Duke was one of the children's favourite care workers in Tracy Beaker and was always cooking the kid's meals and growing his own vegetables.

Clive Rowe appeared in the first episode of the programme and then left at the end of series four as Duke went to visit his family in the Caribbean.

He went on to appear in a 2007 Doctor Who Christmas special, Doctors, The Kennedys and BBC drama All the Small Things.

He even starred on the big screen in 2005 flick Manderlay and played Cuisinier in the 2017 live action remake of Beauty and the Beast.

Nisha Nayar – Elaine 'The Pain' Boyak

Elaine was probably the children's least favourite care worker and she appeared in five series.

Nisha Nayar went on to do two episodes of Doctor Who in 2005 as well as Casualty, Doctors and The Bill.

She's a radio regular as she's recorded more than 100 dramas for BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service.

In 2019 she starred in ITV crime drama The Bay and the short sci-fi thriller Chronos.

Lisa Coleman – Cam Lawson

Cam first came to the Dumping Ground to read stories to the children but ended up forming a close relationship with Tracy in particular, eventually adopting her.

Lisa Coleman came back for her role for Tracy Beaker Returns between 2010 and 2012.

One of the storylines saw Cam furious when Tracy used her credit card to publish her own autobiography.

Lisa's other acting credits include Casualty and The Bill, and she also played Morag in four episodes of Hollyoaks in 2011.

Connor Byrne – Mike Milligan

Connor Byrne played Mike Milligan in all three Tracy Beaker shows, where he started off as a care worker back in 2002.

In series five he came back as a chef and then worked his way up to be the head care worker.

The actor also played Geoff in three episodes of Emmerdale in 2019.

Luke Youngblood – Ben Batambuze

Ben turned out to be the rich kid of the series who wasn't in care, despite Tracy thinking he was homeless at the start.

He left the programme in 2003 when Luke Youngblood turned to hit show Glee as well as having the recurring role of Magnitude in comedy series Community.

His most famous role is probably as Quidditch commentator Lee Jordan in the first two Harry Potter films.

Cara Readle – Layla Jones

Actress Cara Readle played the role of Layla from series three to five.

Darragh was the guest lead in the final episodes of The Bill and also appeared in DCI Banks and Hollyoaks.

He turned to work behind the camera winning the Best Experimental Short Film prize at the London Independent Film Festival for his debut short film Peep Dish in 2015.
