Five NYPD cops have self-isolated after recent travels to nations with large coronavirus outbreaks, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio and police sources.
“There are five,” confirmed de Blasio during a Wednesday press briefing. “We’re going to make sure they get tested and we’re going to coordinate with [the NYPD] on that.”
The Finest are all asymptomatic, but setting themselves aside out of an abundance of caution, according to sources.
They recently traveled to abroad to countries facing particularly fierce cases of the coronavirus, sources said.
At least one of the afflicted cops traveled to China, where the contagion roared to life in late 2019, sources said.
It wasn’t immediately clear where the other four officers traveled.
