MICHAEL Barrymore will today be quizzed over the death of Stuart Lubbock in his first TV interview since a new cop probe.
He is set to give his version of events of the night Stuart, 31, was found dead in the pool at his Essex home in 2001.
Barrymore, 67, who denies any wrongdoing, is also expected to be questioned on ITV’s Good Morning Britain about last month’s Channel 4 documentary Barrymore: The Body In The Pool.
On the programme, three pathologists casted doubt over whether divorced father-of-two Stuart drowned and it was suggested he could have died from “horrific” internal injuries.
The Essex Police detective leading the renewed inquiry says Stuart was raped and murdered – and believes it was then covered up by seven other people present at the late night party.
DCI Stephen Jennings said: “Let me be clear — I believe Stuart Lubbock was murdered. And we will catch whoever did it.”
ITV producers contacted Stuart’s father Terry through his legal rep yesterday, saying former Strike It Lucky presenter Barrymore will appear on this morning’s show – but did not say what would be discussed.
Stuart’s father Terry, 75, said last night: “He didn’t get asked tough questions on the Life Stories show. He needs to get a grilling on GMB.
“Mr Barrymore, it’s now time for you to come clean."
Barrymore has always denied any involvement in Stuart’s death.
